Once we start latching onto negative thoughts, we can quickly go down a slippery slope. Thoughts (both good and bad) will always pass through our minds. It is important not to put our attention on those negative ones.
It is also important to take control of our lives and not have a "Victim" mentality. If you take "Ownership" of your life, you soon realise that you have the power to do something to change any situation, no matter how bad it might seem to you at the time.
Just from your language I can tell why you are not succeeding with the LoA. You said you "tried" to think positively and you "tried" to visualize what you want. TRY implies that you failed or that it didn't work. You cannot TRY to think positively. You either do or you don't. If you are not thinking positively, then you are thinking negatively.
